Agatha Wong, renowned for her prowess in Wushu, found herself outside the medal ranks at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This setback followed her bronze-winning performance in 2018, as she secured the fifth position in the women’s taijiquan and taijiian categories on Sunday, September 24.
With a remarkable track record of clinching gold at the Southeast Asian Games five times, Wong posted scores of 9.720 in taijiquan and 9.736 in taijijian, tallying up to 19.456 points. However, her bid for a consecutive podium finish in the continental competition fell short.
In 2018, Wong had achieved the bronze medal in the same event, which took place in Jakarta, Indonesia. Although she managed to secure the third spot in the taijijian category during the afternoon session, her seventh-place performance in the taijiquan event held earlier in the day proved to be a crucial factor.
