Kangana Ranaut takes commanding lead in Mandi, poised for political triumph

Kangana Ranaut leads in Mandi’s Lok Sabha elections with a substantial margin, poised for victory. Her bold remarks challenge rivals, emphasizing her commitment to the constituency’s development.

Amidst the fervour of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut emerges as a frontrunner in the political arena, contesting as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency. Initial trends from the Election Commission indicate a substantial lead for Ranaut, with over 70,000 votes in her favour, signalling a potential landslide victory.

In her debut political foray, the 37-year-old actress wasted no time in asserting her dominance, taking a jibe at her rival Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh. Ranaut’s said that he might have to now “pack his bags and leave”.

Responding to allegations of her purportedly abandoning Mandi post-elections in favour of returning to Mumbai, Ranaut dismisses such notions, emphasizing her commitment to the constituency. “They will have to suffer the consequences of talking so low about a woman… And that is becoming clear today with the way we have got the lead. Mandi has not taken kindly to the insults for daughters,” Ranaut stated emphatically to ANI.

The BJP had high hopes of retaining all parliamentary seats in Himachal Pradesh, aided by Modi’s three election rallies in the region. Conversely, the Congress pinned its electoral aspirations on its strong support base, particularly the 2.5-lakh government employees, who have rallied behind their demand for the restoration of the old pension scheme, implemented under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership.
