In a significant operation, Thai police seized a staggering cache of illegal substances, totaling over 15 million methamphetamine pills and valued at 300 million baht ($8.15 million). The bust, one of the largest this year, occurred in Nakhon Pathom province, just north of Bangkok, leading to the arrest of four individuals.
The confiscated drugs included a substantial 420kg (926 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, alongside quantities of heroin. Authorities revealed that this drug storage facility, nestled in a community area, was one of the most substantial found in central Thailand.
Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong, speaking to reporters, emphasized the scale of the operation, highlighting its significance in combating the illicit drug trade. Incoming police chief General Torsak Sukvimol further emphasized that the drugs seized were produced in a neighboring country, underlining the international scope of the issue.
