Palestinian armed groups strike Israeli forces with mortars, rockets

Israeli forces in northern Gaza faced Palestinian mortar and rocket fire multiple times, raising concerns about further escalation.

According to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and the Critical Threats Project (CTP), Israeli forces stationed in northern Gaza came under Palestinian mortar and rocket fire at least four times during a monitoring period between Thursday and Friday.

The Netzarim Corridor, a military highway constructed by Israel to divide the Gaza Strip into northern and southern sections, witnessed renewed attacks. Hamas fighters employed the “Rajum” multi-rocket launcher platform to target Israeli forces deployed along this strategic military route.

The escalation of hostilities in the region raises concerns about the potential for further escalation, as Israeli forces face persistent attacks from Palestinian militant groups operating within the Gaza Strip.

According to reports from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and the Critical Threats Project (CTP), the tensions in the region escalated further as Hamas fighters launched a rocket towards Israel on Thursday. The rocket targeted the Nirim area, located approximately 7 kilometres (just over 4 miles) east of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip.
