Russian Ambassador visits Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, strengthens Indo – Russian ties

The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, a symbol of bilateral cooperation, has been under construction since March 2002 with technical assistance from Russia. Ambassador Alipov’s visit to the construction sites 3-6 highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties in the field of sustainable energy development.

In a noteworthy  demonstration of the enduring partnership between India and Russia, the Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, visited the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant accompanied by Alexey Likhachev, Director General of ROSATOM, and Bhuvan Chandra Pathak, Chairman of NPCIL. The visit emphasizes on the deep-rooted collaboration between the two nations in nuclear energy, reflecting decades of strategic cooperation.

This visit follows recent agreements signed between India and Russia, focusing on the expansion of the Kudankulam facility. During his visit to Russia, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar signed pivotal accords with Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, emphasizing the importance of nuclear power cooperation. These agreements signify the commitment of both nations to enhancing energy infrastructure and technological advancements.

Minister Jaishankar praised the Indian community’s contribution to fostering close ties between the two countries, emphasizing the significance of the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. He urged the community to deepen cooperation, aligning with the principles of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” in a multipolar world.

Despite global tensions, India’s stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine remains unchanged, with an emphasis on resolving conflicts through diplomacy and dialogue.
