A Russian rocket attack resulted in one death and seven injuries in the city of Selydove in the Donetsk area, as reported by Ukrainian authorities. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the event occurred when a rocket damaged an apartment block in Selydove, causing destruction and injuring several people, including a kid.
Since forces supported by Moscow took control of a section of the Donetsk region in 2014, the area has been a major point of warfare. Unfortunately, things got worse when Russia forcibly seized control of the whole Donetsk area and three other Ukrainian regions in 2022. In addition to causing ongoing tensions, this act of hostility has aroused worries for the safety and well-being of the local populace.
The rocket attack underscores the ongoing threat that people residing in war zones confront by adding to the increasing list of occurrences in the area. The whole community condemned these violent crimes and called for a diplomatic settlement to the protracted conflict.
Russia continues to view the Donetsk region as an important strategic target, the entire region. Just over half of the Donetsk region is currently under the control of forces backed by Moscow, and the recent rocket attack in Selydove highlights the terrible reality faced by residents caught in the crossfire.
