Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman begins official visit to Bulgaria

Chairman Vương Đình Huệ, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA), arrived in Sofia on the afternoon of September 23. This visit marks the commencement of an official visit to Bulgaria, extended as an invitation from Bulgarian NA Chairman Rosen Zhelyazkov.

Upon their arrival at Sofia International Airport, Chairman Huệ and the delegation received a warm welcome from Rositsa Kirova, Vice President of the Bulgarian National Assembly, Nikola Nikolov, the head of the Office of the Bulgarian National Assembly President, Đỗ Hoàng Long, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria, and members of the Vietnamese community residing in the country.

During his visit, Chairman Huệ is scheduled to engage in discussions and meetings with prominent Bulgarian leaders. Additionally, he will partake in exchanges and working sessions with Bulgaria’s political representatives and relevant authorities. The focus of these interactions will be on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two nations and their respective legislative bodies.

It’s worth noting that Bulgaria holds a special place in Vietnam’s diplomatic history, as it was one of the first countries globally to officially establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam back in 1950. Chairman Huệ’s official visit comes 15 years after the last visit to Bulgaria by then NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng in 2008. This visit is a testament to the enduring friendship and strengthening diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria.
