Zelenskyy expresses gratitude to Philippines’ Marcos for support

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy thanked Philippine President Marcos for his support amidst conflict, emphasising global solidarity in challenging times.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has extended his gratitude to Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for his expressed support amidst Ukraine’s ongoing conflict with Russia.

The expression of appreciation came as Zelenskyy addressed the media during a joint press conference with the Philippine leader in Kyiv. Zelenskyy conveyed his thanks to Marcos for the Philippines’ stance on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, reaffirming the importance of global unity in upholding international law and peace.

The support from the Philippines holds particular significance given the country’s geopolitical position and historical ties. While the Philippines may be geographically distant from the conflict zone, Marcos’ show of solidarity underscores the shared values of democracy, freedom, and sovereignty that bind nations together in the face of external aggression.

As Ukraine continues to confront Russian aggression, diplomatic efforts to garner support from allies and partners around the world play a crucial role in strengthening Ukraine’s position on the international stage.

The expressed gratitude from Zelenskyy comes at a time when Ukraine is facing immense challenges, both on the battlefield and in the realm of diplomacy. The conflict with Russia has tested Ukraine’s resilience and resolve, but the solidarity shown by leaders like Marcos serves as a source of encouragement and solidarity for the Ukrainian people.

Beyond the immediate expression of thanks, Zelenskyy’s acknowledgement of Marcos’ support may also pave the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the Philippines.
